Study Abroad Tips

I was lucky enough to study abroad during my junior year of college. I lived in Florence, Italy for four and a half months and learned a lot about traveling, packing, and what’s important in life. These are my top tips to make the most of your study abroad experience.

1) Bring Less Than You Think You Need
The night before I left for Florence, I packed my whole suitcase with everything I wanted to bring. I then took out about a quarter of those clothes. You WILL be shopping, so leave room for new clothes and shoes! To save room in your suitcase, roll your clothes and wear your heaviest shoes on the plane.

Candle Haul- December 2014

I ordered most of these candles way back in September and am finally getting around to a review! Fall is my favorite season and I love burning candles while doing homework, watching TV or reading a magazine. As you will see, I really love pumpkin. All of these candles are from Bath and Body Works and I didn’t pay full-price for any of them. Bath and Body Works always has great sales! They also have some great holiday scents that will be sure to put you in the Christmas spirit! They also make great gifts and stocking stuffers!

Strawberry and Blueberry Smoothie Recipe

 Ingredients
·      Frozen Strawberries
·      Frozen Blueberries
·      Fat-Free Light Vanilla Yogurt
·      Ground Flaxseed Meal
·      Skim Milk

Unfortunately, I’m a very picky eater. I don’t like eating fruits or vegetables so I decided to find a way to sneak them into my diet. I searched high and low on the Internet for recipes and this one is by far my favorite. I make this smoothie for breakfast on the weekends and sometimes as a snack during the week.

Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation Review

I first started using the Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation two years ago. Because I have oily, acne-prone skin I was looking for a foundation that would leave my skin matte, but not cakey. The Double Wear foundation is oil free and lasts for HOURS. The Estée Lauder website says the foundation will last for 15 hours, and I have found this to be true on multiple occasions.

Not only does it do a great job of keeping my skin matte, it does a great job of evening my skin tone and covering acne. I find that I don’t need to re-apply powder throughout the day when wearing this foundation.

Favorite Drugstore Makeup

I think the majority of my makeup collection consists of drugstore makeup. Every time I’m in Target or Wal-Mart, I just can’t resist going to the makeup aisle and seeing what’s new. I’ve found that a lot of drugstore makeup is just as good, if not better than high-end makeup that I’ve tried and it’s less than half the price! These are my top five favorite drugstore makeup products.

Sorority Recruitment Tips

I am currently in my senior year of college and my fourth year in a sorority! This is the second year that I have been lucky enough to be chosen to be a Sorority Recruitment Counselor. An SRC helps women going through recruitment find where they belong within the Greek community. For some women, choosing between the chapters can be a hard and emotional decision and some women know almost immediately. Either way, recruitment is a busy and sometimes confusing time. A lot of information is thrown at you and it can be very stressful. Here are my tips for having an AMAZING sorority recruitment experience.

College Freshman Tips

When I moved to college I was very excited and also very nervous. I chose a school that was five and a half hours away from home and I didn’t know anyone. Here are some tips that helped me when I was a freshman!

1.    Join Clubs.
It doesn’t matter what club it is. As long as you join one that sounds fun, exciting, interesting, whatever! I guarantee you will find people in that club that have the same interests as you.

2.    Talk To People In Your Classes.
Don’t choose the seat in the back corner. (I did that and made zero friends in my classes.) Sit next to someone who you think looks like a nice person and introduce yourself. You won’t die, I promise.

August Birchbox

I have been a subscriber of Birchbox for about two years and I honestly have a love/hate relationship with it. Sometimes the boxes are really great and I love everything in them, but sometimes I don’t like anything in my box. The box is just $10 a month and you can sign up for a monthly subscription at birchbox.com.

Introduction

Hello, blog world! My name is Emily Mangano. I am 21 years old and about to start my senior year in college. I plan to graduate in May 2015 (no, I don’t know what I’m doing after) with a bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising and a minor in fashion media.
I have written for CollegeFashionista.com for the past year and a half, which has helped me realize my love of writing about things I’m interested in, not just school papers, which yes, I oddly do enjoy writing. I specifically love writing about fashion, beauty, skincare and anything pop culture. Because I stick to writing about fashion on CollegeFashionista, I decided to start this blog to write about my other interests.
I find inspiration in everything from music to travel and runway shows to walking around campus. I plan to write about whatever topic I feel like and whoever wants to read it is more than welcome to. I hope whoever decides to read my posts will enjoy them!
Look out for posts about college and sorority recruitment tips coming this September!
